She shifted to Dubai in the year 2004 and joined the radio station Hit 96.7 where she served as a radio jockey.
In 2012, she bagged the Masala Award for “Best Radio Presenter”.
Nyla Usha worked for around a decade as a radio jockey at Hit 96.7 in Dubai and then made her acting debut in 2013 by playing the role of Chithira (a woman going through an unhappy marriage) in the Malayalam drama film Kunjananthante Kada. This role won her the Asiavision Award in the “Best Debut Actress” category in 2013.
She brought to life the character of Anu Joy in the 2013 Malayalam-language satirical comedy film Punyalan Agarbattis. Her co-stars for the project included Jayasurya, Aju Varghese, Rachana Narayanankutty, Innocent, and Sreejith Ravi.
From 2016 to 2017, Nyla Usha served as the host for the Malayalam-language game show Minute To Win It and received the 2017 Flowers TV Award for “Best Anchor”.
Alongside Joju George, Chemban Vinod Jose, Vijayaraghavan, and Rahul Madhav, Nyla Usha co-starred as Alappattu Mariyam Varghese in the 2019 Malayalam-language period action thriller film Porinju Mariam Jose. The film is loosely based on events that occurred in the 1980s-1990s Thrissur.
For her performance in Porinju Mariam Jose, she received the Ramu Karyat Award for “Best Actress” and Vanitha Film Award for “Best Character Actress” in 2020.
In 2022, Nyla Usha played the role of Nancy Abraham (Paappan’s wife) in the Malayalam-language crime thriller film Paappan.
She was cast as Priscilla Thangam in the 2022 Malayalam-language comedy-drama film Priyan Ottathilanu.
