Devin Haney denies stunning claim from Regis Prograis that he paid to have secret loss removed from

Devin Haney has denied a shock claim from his next opponent Regis Prograis that his boxing record is a lie.

The unbeaten 30-0 (15 KOs) American is emerging as one of the top names in the sport at only 24 years of age.

Haney has already become the undisputed WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO lightweight world champion.

He is now moving up in weight to challenge Prograis for his WBC super-lightweight crown on Dec 9th.

However, as the pre-fight trash talk has got underway, Prograis has made a surprising claim.

The 34-year-old tweeted: "So I’m hearing Devin lost a fight in Mexico earlier in his career, but he paid to take it off his record.

In the early stages of his career, Haney had ten fights in Mexico as he was too young to be obtain a professional boxing licence in many American states.

All of these contests took place away from the spotlight as the teenager learned his craft in bars and hotels in Tijuana.

As a result, it is very difficult to clarify whether Prograis' claim holds any real merit.
